Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve the heat efficiency of a regenerative furnace suitable for use as a glass kiln by constructing the furnace so that gas flows independently in the longitudinal direction along the upper and lower regenerators and flows in the lateral direction in the upper and lower regenerators. CONSTITUTION:This regenerative furnace is provided with a plurality of regenerators divided in both longitudinal and lateral directions. Gas is parted by vertical partition wall 13 into flows along the upper and lower regenerators (4,6 and 3,5) divided in the lateral direction, and the gas flows independently on the whole. One flow of exhaust gas is shown by arrow A. This flow from collective flue 11 passes through rear upper regenerator 3, turns back from wall 13, and enters rear exhaust flue 14a through rear lower regenerator 5. The other flow by arrow B passes through front upper regenerator 4, thrus back from wall 13, and enters front exhaust flue 14b through front lower regenerator 6.
