Abstract

1,030,431. Gas burners. HEINRICH KOPPERS G.m.b.H. Jan. 22, 1963 [Feb. 27, 1962], No. 2654/63. Heading F4T. A combustion system for hot blast stoves comprises a row of vertical, parallel, spacedapart refractory partitions 8 disposed at the bottom of a combustion chamber and extending over the cross-section thereof and bounding alternate air and gas chambers 10, 11, which are connected to a combustion air supply 4, and a gas supply 5 respectively, said air and gas chambers terminating in a number of air and gas mixing nozzles 13 disposed above the partitions 8 and extending over substantially the whole cross-section of the combustion chamber. The partitions 8 are disposed in pairs upon walls 9 having inclined upper edges, air chambers 10 being defined between partitions disposed upon the same wall 9, and gas chambers 10 being defined by adjacent partitions 8 positioned on adjacent walls 9. Transverse rods or partitions 15 may be provided to improve distribution of gas and air within their respective chambers. The nozzles may be formed by interchangeable longitudinal walls 12 and transverse walls 14, or may comprise detachable nozzle units, Figs. 5, 6 (not shown). In a further embodiment, Fig. 4 (not shown), the air and gas ducts 6, 7 are separated by a vertical wall 9a above which are positioned parallel partitions 8a defining air and gas chambers, the duct 6 having an inlet into each gas chamber and the duct 7 having an inlet into each air chamber.
