Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve durability to bending fatigue and prevent the fall in strength of a steel cord, by setting at a prescribed value the twist angle of filaments of a steel cord which comprises the twisted filaments, a core and a seal.
CONSTITUTION: At least one sheath made of plural twisted filaments is provided around a core made of plural twisted filaments to manufacture a steel cord. The twist angle of the filaments of the core and the sheath is set at 7±1° to the longitudinal direction of the cord. This results in reducing the bending strain of the filaments, improving their durability to bending fatigue and preventing the fall in the strength of the steel cord.
