PURPOSE: To eliminate a receiver tank and a filtered liquid discharge pump and reduce piping in the dehydrator in which suction is conducted from the back face of a filter cloth by installing a suction box, filtered liquid discharge pipe, gas-liquid separation chamber, suction pipe, etc.
CONSTITUTION: Air in the suction box 12 is always drawn by a blower 17, so the pressure in the suction box 12 is negative when sludge 19 covers the surface of the box 12 through the filter cloth 2. This causes the water in a thickner 10 to be drawn up through the filtered liquid discharge pipe 16 to produce a water column with head H corresponding to the negative pressure in the suction box 12. This means the filtered liquid discharge pipe 16 performs the discharge of filtered liquid while maintaining the suction box 12 at a negative pressure. Partition plates 14 prevent the filtered liquid from directly drawn into the suction pipe 18, and form the gas-liquid separation chamber 15 so as to change the direction of air flow, so that the filtered liquid in the form of water droplets or fog state collides with the wall surface of the suction box 12.
