Abstract

966,509. Filters for liquids. H. R. BLACK, C. E. HUTSON, E. STANESA, N. P. KEZAR, W. G. WALSH, J. A. MORRISON, and L. SIMONS, [trading as H. R. BLACK CO.]. March 29, 1962, No. 12127/62. Heading BID. Liquid and solids flowing in at 11, Fig. 2, meet an upwardly-travelling filter screen driven by sprockets 47, the solids being discharged into a receptacle 24 by air jets from an air pipe 105 which is reciprocated transversely of the screen. Filtered liquid passes from within the screen to an outlet box 61, Fig. 1, and passes thence at 62 to a pump 63 for discharge at 64 for re-use. Jet pipes 68, Figs. 1 and 2, and 93, Fig. 2, are connected to pipe 64 to clean the screen and chains respectively. Scum passes over a float-operated weir 77, Fig. 10, into a skimmer housing located in the outlet box 61. Scum-bearing liquid is withdrawn from the skimmer housing at 76, Fig. 1, by suction provided by a further return filtrate flow 72 and is discharged at 75, Fig. 2, for re-filtration.
