Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a titled pipe expanding device of high strength of leak-proof weld zone by fixing the position of a front O-ring on the side outer than the end face of the pipe plate and providing jigs of restraining the radial deformation of the pipe during expanding pipe in this position.

CONSTITUTION: A pipe expanding device 4 of hard material such as metals is formed by a joint 11 to a intensifier, a restraining ring 10 having a screw hole engaging with the screw part thereof, and a liquid feed path 9 formed internally and radially from the joint up to the center of the pipe expanding device, and further there is an annular groove 12 with the opening end of the liquid feed path on the outside circumferential surface in-between. An O-ring 5 is engaged in this groove and is adjustable so as to position before the pipe branch end face 6 by the screw parts of the joint and restraining ring. This pipe expanding device is inserted into a pipe 3, and the position of the front O-ring 5 is so adjusted by the above-described method as to come on the side outer than the pipe branch end face to put the restraining end face and the pipe branch end face 6 into close contact, thence pressure liquid is admitted into the gap between the pipe 3 between the O-rings and the pipe expanding device.
