Abstract

PURPOSE:To manufacture an embossing plate capable of producing a decorative plate of artistic design forming an inorganic vitreous layer having a curved surface configuration in which the configuration of the recessed parts resembles to that of the projected parts, on the surface of a metallic base material. CONSTITUTION:A metallic base plate 1 such as a steel plate, a cast iron plate, an aluminum plate or the like, having projections and recessions on the surface, is subjected to defatting, chemical and synchetic treatments, and plating, as necessary. Thereafter, a vitreous frit mainly composed of SiO2, Al2O3, B2O3, Na2O, K2O, CaO, ZnO, MgO and the like is coated with a composition added with water, a floating agent, an additive and the like, thereby to provide a frit layer 5. Thereafter, the frit layer 5 is heated to a temperature (500-1,000 deg.C) above the melting point of the frit, and baked thereby to form on the surface of the base plate 1 an inorganic vitreous layer 2 having a configuration in which the surfaces of the shaped parts are all formed only by curved surfaces, and the configuration of each of the recessed parts 4 and that of each of projected parts 3 resembling to each other.
