Abstract

PURPOSE:To prepare a glass product having improved adhesiveness between a base and a semitranslucent glass layer without deforming thermally the glass base material, by forming a semitranslucent glass layer (or colored glass layer) on the glass base material, sandwhiching a titanium oxide film by them. CONSTITUTION:After the surface temperature of the glass base material 1 of jar shape formed by molding and processing is adjusted to about 500-700 deg.C, about 10-30wt% titanium compound solution (e.g., a solution of butoxyisopropoxy titaniumin in dichloromethane) is applied to the inner surface of the base material 1 from the nozzle 2 by spraying, and the surface is gradually cooled to form the titanium oxide film 3 having a thickness about 100-1,000Angstrom on the whole internal surface of the base material 1. The surface is then coated with a low-melting semitranslucent coating compound of glass enamel to give a film about 30-60mu. The prepared base material 1 is put in a calcinating furnace, and baked under such conditions that the maximum temperature about 580-600 deg.C is maintained for 5-15min by gradual heating and cooling as a rule, to form the semitranslucent glass layer 5.
