Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare the titled polymer having narrow molecular weight distribu- tion and high moldability, by the use of a polymerization catalyst obtained by contacting a reaction product of a specific solvent-soluble organic magnesium compound and a silicon compound, etc. with a mixture of a titanium compound and a vanadium compound, and then compounding the contact product with an organic aliminum compound.
CONSTITUTION: Ethylene is polymerized at 120W350°C in the presence of a polymerization catalyst composed of (A) a component obtained by (1) reacting (a) an organic Mg compound soluble in hydrocarbon solvents and expressed by the formula (M is IWIII group metal atom; β is ≥1; α, p, q, r and s are ≥0, provided that p+q+r+s=mα+2β, and 0≤(r+s)/(α+β)≤1; m is valence of M; R1, R2 are 1W20C hydrocarbon; X1, X2 are H, alkoxide, etc.) with (b) one or more halides of B, Si, Ge, Sn, Pb, P, As, Sb, Bi, and Hg, and (2) mixing the reaction product with a mixture of a Ti compound and a V compound wherein the molar ratio of Ti/V is 100/1W1/100, and (B) an organic Al compound.
