Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable fabrication of a ferrite material having an excellent orientation and reproducibility by a method wherein a heat treatment is performed at a specific temperature for a mixture of a hexagonal alpha-Fe2O3, specific metal salts or an oxide and a flux. CONSTITUTION:A heat treatment is performed on a mixture of hexagonal alpha-Fe2O3, salts of Mn1, Zn, Co, Ni or a kind or more of oxide and a flux containing an element which does not reduce the characteristic of ferrite at a temperature of 500- 1,000 deg.C and a thin-plate orientation ferrite is obtained. As a result, on a hexagonal parent material of alpha-Fe2O3, other metal is solidified unilaterally, a thin-plate type orientation ferrite material, having a plate-type crystal c-axis of alpha-Fe2O3 retained on a <111> axis of a spinel ferrite by a topotactic reaction, is obtained with an excellent reproducibility.
