Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide an easy-to-prepare, low-cost permeable membrane, by a method wherein a copolymer of an a,omega-bifunctional polydimethyl-siloxane and a styrene polymer is used as the essential component of the selective gas-permeable membrane. CONSTITUTION:A styrene polymer having side chains of aromatic rings is reacted and crosslinked with an alpha,omega-bifunctional polydimethylsiloxane to provide a copolymer. The copolymer is dissolved in an organic solvent etc. and formed into membranes. This provides a selective permeable membrane having good permeability, high siloxane content, and high permeability.
