Abstract

A porous polymer membrane comprises poly-1,3,4-oxadiazol of a general formula: (FORMULA) where R and R<s1>s are divalent radicals at least one of them being capable to render said poly-1,3,4-oxadiazols soluble in organic solvents. A method of making such a membrane consists in preparing a 10 to 20% solution of said poly-1,2,4-oxadiazol in an organic solvent, for example, N-methylpyrrolidone and in applying that solution onto a forming surface with subsequent coagulation in the medium of a precipitant. Said solution may contain LiCl or P<u2>uO<u5>u in a quantity of 0.1 to 5 percent by weight of the solution. The membranes can be used in different fields of technology for concentration and separation of solutions, sterilization of medical preparations, sewage and water treatment.
