Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a semipermeable membrane suitable for selective permeation and separation of components of liquid mixture, by cosslinking the polymer of which main component is polyepiaminohydrine. CONSTITUTION:A polymer of which main component is polyepiaminohydrine is crosslinked to obtain a semipermeable membrane. The polyepiaminohydrine said above should have a molecular weight of several hundred to several millions, preferably several thousands to tens of thousand, containing the unit of I in the polymer by at least about not less than 20%, preferably about not less than 50%. This may be obtained by aminating the polymer containing the compound in formula II obtained by homopolymerization of epihalohydrine or copolymerization with ethylene oxide, by at least about not less than 20%, preferably about not less than 50%.
