Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a thin film of selective gas-permeable membrane having large permeability and membrane strength, by copolymerizing a polyorganosiloxane having side chains active hydrogen and a hydrocarbon having side chains contg. unsaturated bonds in the molecule.
CONSTITUTION: A polyorganosiloxane having active hydrogens in the side chains is copolymerized with a hydrocarbon polymer having two or more unsaturated bonds in the side chains of the molecule. This transforms the copolymer into a threedimensional high-molecular product having a crosslinked structure. The copolymer is dissolved in an organic solvent etc. and formed into membranes, so that a thin film of gas-permeable membrane having good permeability and high membrane strength is provided. This film allows a simple device to perform continuous economical gas separation.
