Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a selective gas-permeable membrane having large permeability and membrane strength, by a method wherein a poly-organosiloxane contg. SiH bonds and a monomer contg. unsaturated bonds capable of reacting with the polyorganosiloxane are copolymerized and formed into membranes.
CONSTITUTION: A polyorganosiloxane having SiH bonds is reacted with a monomer having, in the molecule, unsaturated bonds capable of reacting with SiH bond, so that copolymerization reaction occurs to produce a three-dimensional high-molecular crosslinked structure. This is dissolved in an organic solvent etc. and formed into membranes to provide a thin film of selective gas permeability having good permeability and high membrane strength. This membrane allows a simple device to perform continuous and economical gas separation.
