Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a Cr-Mo steel which excels in strength and tenascity and is to be hot-worked and does not undergo refining heat treatment and whose welding property does not fall and which comprises prescribed quantities of C, Si, Mn, Cr and Mo as basic constituents, limited quantities of B, (sol) Al and N and the rest of Fe and unavoidable impurities.
CONSTITUTION: A Cr-Mo steel, which excels in strength and tenacity and is to be hot-worked, is composed of 0.11W0.17% of C, 0.05W0.5% of Si, 0.3W0.65% of Mn, 2W2.5% of Cr and 0.9W1.1% of Mo as basic constituents, 0.00015W0.001% of B, 0.005W0.1% of Al (sol), less than 0.004% of N and the rest of Fe and unavoidable impurities. Even if conventional refining heat treatment is not performed and annealing for removal of welding residual stress is effected, a necessary strength is assured for a plate made of the steel. Therefore, the manufacturing process of the steel is simplified.
