Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a nonrefined high tensile steel plate with low yield ratio compared to a steel plate of the same strength level which is suitable for public works and construction obtained by a method wherein a minute amount of Ti is contained in steel and hardenability is enhanced by a small amount of B.
CONSTITUTION: A nonrefined high tensile steel plate comprises C; 0.11W0.35%, Si; 0.05W0.90%, Mn; 0.75W2.50%, Mo; 0.05W0.80%, Nb; 0.01W0.08%, Sol Al; 0.03W0.15%, B; 0.0002W0.0015%, Ti; 0.01W0.08%, a balance of Fe and ineveitable impurities. Because Ti within this composition forms TiN within steel to prevent the increase of solid solution N amount, hardenability enhancing effect of B is effectively exhibited. Therefore, the steel forms bainite formation during free cooling treatment after hot rolling and a high tensile steel plate with low yield ratio having good strength and tenacity is obtained without refining and rolling.
