Abstract
PURPOSE: To reclaim waste rubber containing a substantial amount of synthetic rubber effectively even at ambient temperature, by kneading the waste rubber with a thiuram disulfide.
CONSTITUTION: Waste rubber, for example tires for trucks and buses which mainly use natural rubbers or tires for passenger cars which preferably use synthetic rubbers, is kneaded with a compound selected from thiuram disulfides having the shown formula (wherein R1, R2, R3, and R4 represent C1W6 hydrocarbon groups) at temperature of up to 120°C. Said kneading can be carried out at even ambient temperature. As the kneading apparatus, rolls, kneaders, Brabender, Banbury etc. may be used, while when rolls are used, the reclamation will be carried out particularly effectively. The amount of addition of the compound having the shown formula is aproximately 0.05W10pts.wt. per 100pts.wt. of the waste rubber, and particularly when it is used in an amount ranging from 0.1W5pts.wt., the reclamation and revulcanizing reaction can be carried out effectively.
