Abstract

PURPOSE: To exactly control the amount of powder paint by a procedure in which the supply of powder is stopped at the end of injection, high-pressure air alone is supplied, and the powder adhered to the inner surface of a powder injection nozzle is injected into the tubular bulb.
CONSTITUTION: A powder injection nozzle 2 is inserted into the tubular bulb 1, a main control valve 6 of a main high-pressure air supply pipe 5 is opened, and an electrostatic power source 11 is turned ON to apply the electrostatic potential between the nozzle 2 and the bubl 1, whereupon the powder from a powder supply pipe 8 is sucked up by means of a negative pressure produced by the injection of air from a Venturi tube 4 and jetted through holes 3 of the nozzle 2. In this case, the powder is electrically charged by corona discharge generated at the tip of dischrage needle 10 and adhered to the inner surface of the bulb 1. During the end of the electrostatic coating process, when an auxiliary control valve 13 of an auxiliary high-pressure air supply pipe 12 is opened, the negative pressure is released and the supply of powder is stopped, and then the powder adhere to the inner surface of the nozzle 2 is removed and adhered to the inner surface of the bulb 1. Thus, the dispersion of the amount of powder paint can be prevented.
