Abstract

PURPOSE: To relieve heat stress incurred in casiang, etc., and prevent scuffing in pump by a method in which an inner cylinder with small through holes distributing along its circumference is provided inside an outer casing to eliminate the bias of a liquid metal inside the inner cylinder by means of its contracting effect.
CONSTITUTION: A liquid metal coming out of the suction nozzle 2 is compressed by the impeller 3 and then discharged through the discharge nozzle 5, whereupon the liquid metal flows through the bearing 7 from the impeller 3 into the inner cylinder 13. On the other hand, part of the liquid metal, leaked from the labyrinth seal 11 flows into a clearance between the inner cylinder 13 and the outer casing 1, goes up there, and then flows through the small through holes 14 provided distributionally along the circumference of the inner cylinder 13 into the said clearance. And, by its contracting effect, the flow of the liquid metal inside the inner cylinder 13 is equalized without biasing, so that the ununiform temperature distribution in the outer casing 1 can be eliminated and therefore scuffing, etc., in the pump can be prevented.
