Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve efficiency with a simple structure by forming a viscosity pump from the thrust collar of a thrust bearing apparatus, the outer peripheral surface of a rotary plate, and pum casing, and by allowing oil to circulate into an oil tank through an oil cooling apparatus.
CONSTITUTION: A viscosity pump is formed of the outer cylindrical surface 5a of a thrust collar 5 and a pump casing 9a which is arranged in annular form, keeping a prescribed clearance on the outer peripheral side of the cylindrical surface. The exit 9c of the casing 9a is connected with an oil tank through a conduit 2a. With such a constitution, the pressure generated in the pump can be calculated with the length (l) of pump casing, depth (h), width (b), circumferential speed U on the thrust collar, flow amount Q, and viscosity μ of lubricating oil. Therefore, when these values are designed properly, the pressure corresponding to the pressure loss in the circulation conduit and oil cooling apparatus can be generated, so the efficiency applicable over a remarkably wide range can be obtained.
