Abstract
PURPOSE:To make a V-shaped single-acting hot gas machine compact, by connecting a heater, a regenerator and a cooler between a lower compression space in the compression cylinder of the hot gas machine and an expansion space over a piston in an expansion cylinder. CONSTITUTION:A compression piston 3 and an expansion piston 4 slide in a compression cylinder 1 and an expansion cylinder 2 which are arranged in a V-shaped on the top of a crankcase 5. The pistons are coupled to a crankshaft 6 through crossheads 12. A cooler 8, a regenerator 9 and a heater 10 are connected between a compression space A under the compression piston 3 in the compression cylinder and an expansion space B over the expansion piston 4 in the expansion cylinder 2 so that a working space is defined. According to this constitution, the distance between the expansion cylinder 2 and the cooler 8 and the regenerator 9 and the distance between the expansion space B and the regenerator 9 are shortened, each appliance can be made compact and the dead volume is effectively reduced.
