Abstract
PURPOSE:To produce a weldable extra-thick high-tensile steel plate of superior ductility in the thickness direction by keeping the S content in the steel material low and controlling the contents of Mn and Cr in a proper range as well as by subjecting the same to hot rolling and refining under the specific conditions. CONSTITUTION:The steel material 1.00-1.90% Mn+Cr and 0.40-0.48 carbon equiv. contg. 0.10-0.18% C, 0.20-0.70% Si, 0.20-0.45% Mn, >0.020% P, <=0.015% S, 0.70-1.50% Cr, 0.05-0.50% Mo, 0.01-0.10% V, 0.010-0.10% sol. Al, and if necessary, contg. one or both of 0.10-0.80% Ni and 0.10-0.50% Cu, is heated to >=1200 deg.C. It is hot rolled at a finishing temp. of >=1050 deg.C, to an extrathick steel plate of >=40mm. in thickness. After this is hardened from a temp. >=Ac3 point, it is annealed at a temperature <=Ac1. It is a high-tensile steel plate of 60kg/mm.<2> class and the steel plate of superior ductility in the thickness direction and less formation of white spots may be produced.
