Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain a unit which is safe and can extend the life of an optical scanning equipment, by driving and controlling the optical scanning equipment so that optical scanning may be performed in the light shielding part other than the scanning visual field with a scanning width narrower than that for scanning in a low scanning speed for optical scanning waiting, in the scanner used for a scanning type electronic copying unit and so on.
CONSTITUTION: When scanning equipment driver 22 detects the waiting state of scanning, driver 22 controls and drives driving coil 18a to irradiate the laser beam light onto light shielding part 14a, which is provided in one side of the original platen, other than original 14 as shown by the broken line. Consequently, the laser beam is prevented from being leaked to the external and entering eyes of the worker for exchange of original 14. Since driving of driving coil 18a in this scanning waiting state is so set and controlled that the rotation speed may be lower than that of read scanning of original 14 and the scanning width may be narrower, the load for driving coil 18a can be small, so that the mechanical life of driving coil 18a can be extended.
