Abstract

PURPOSE: To let a mooring cable out from a ship only by driving a ship mooring winch, by winding up or letting out the cable by means of the mooring winch while pivoting a fair-leader between its horizontal and vertical positions.
CONSTITUTION: When a drum 13 of a ship mooring winch 11 is rotated counter- clockwise, a ship mooring cable 14 is loosened and a fair-leader 22 which has been held horizontally is pivoted by its own weight, followed by pushing out an eye 26 of the cable 14 from an outer plate opening 17. When a cable-catching land service man receives the eye 26 of the cable 14 and hooks the eye 26 around a quay pit and then the winch 11 is driven in the winding-up direction, tension is applied to the cable 14. To leave a quay, the above operation is reversed.
