Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide a large-storing capacity, high density and highly durable optical recording material best suited to read only memory by placing protective layer of specific thickness such as transparent organic film and transparent inorganic film on the light receiving surface of recording film to prevent oxidization of metallic film. CONSTITUTION:Part of recording film (Bi, Se, Te, etc. with film thickness of 200-300Angstrom are desirable) formed on the base plate (glass, plastic, etc.) is evaporated through radiation of laser beam (beam less than 1mumphi is desirable) and recording is made depending on the existence of, or lack of, film. In such optical recording material, light receiving surface of recording film is provided with transparent organic film (preferably, application and hardening of transparent epoxy or melamine resin) on which transprent organic film (preferably vacuum evaporation of SiO2) or transparent organic film (preferably Teflon) is placed to form of protective layer 200mum in thickness.
