Abstract
PURPOSE:To perform the dephosphoration of an iron steel by converting phosphorus present in molten pig iron, molten steel, etc., into hydrogen phosphorite or phosphorus chloride by blowing hydrogen, chlorine, or water vapor into the molten pig iron, molten steel, etc. CONSTITUTION:Hydrogen, chlorine, or water vapor is blown into a molten pig iron, or steel through a porous plug made of a fire brick, whereby phosphorus present in the molten metal is dephosphorated in the form of hydrogen phosphorite or phosphorus chloride. Thus, the dephosphoration can be stably performed without restoration to phosphorus as in the case where oxidation occurs in the form of P2O5 and dephosphoration is effected with CaO in slag.
