Abstract
PURPOSE:To remove phosphorus present in molten pig iron by blowing ammonia into molten pig iron or steel or adding an ammonium salt into the molten pig iron or steel. CONSTITUTION:Ammonia is blown into a molten pig iron or steel or an ammonium salt is added to the molten pig iron or steel to convert phosphorus present in the molten pig iron or steel into hydrogen phosphide gas which is, as a result, removed. For example, molten pig iron or steel is taken in a laddle and then ammonia is blown into the molten pig iron of steel by using a porous plug made of a fire-proof material for dephosphorization. Thus, the phosphorus present in the molten pig iron or steel can be remarkably reduced.
