Abstract

PURPOSE:To manufacture high grade steel by sampling the carbon content of molten steel and charging mixed ore consisting of oxidized cpds. in an amt. needed for the reaction with the carbon so as to carry out decarburization while controlling the amt. of oxygen supplied to the steel. CONSTITUTION:The carbon content of molten steel is calculated by sampling the steel, and oxygen is charged into the steel in an amt. needed for the reaction with the carbon in the form of Fe2O3, Fe3O2, etc. to carry out decarburization. Since this method does not requir any special supply unit as compared with a conventional oxygen reaction system, the decarburization effect is simply shown.
