Abstract
PURPOSE: To prevent the scale deposition effectively and economically by adding a Ca2+ type compound at the inlet of a heat exchanger in an amount excessive to a stoichiometric amount against monomeric silicic acid in geothermal hot water in a specific molecular range.
CONSTITUTION: In heat exchanging with geothermal hot water by a heat exchanger, a Ca2+ type compound is added to the geothermal hot water at an inlet of the heat exchanger in an amount of 0.002W0.004mol/l excessive to a stoichiometric amount against the monomeric silicic acid in the geothermal hot water. If necessary, the pH value of the geothermal hot water is adjusted to 5W9 and said hot water is stoyed for 0.5W3hr, and, thereafter, by adding a Ca2+ type compound in an amount of 0.002W0.004mol/l excessive to a stoichiometric amount against a saturated dissolving amount of monomeric silicic acid at an inlet temp. of the heat exchanger, an adding amount is reduced to a large extent and the economization can be attained.
