Abstract

PURPOSE:To perform corona charging stably by controlling the supply voltage to a corona discharger for charging photoreceptor according to the DC component current flowing in a shielding plate. CONSTITUTION:The DC current component relating directy with the surface potential by charging of a photoreceptor 1 flowing in the shielding plate 3 of an AC corona discharger is detected by a DC current detector 5. The supply voltage from a DC power source 7 is controlled by way of an DC controller 6 so that this detected value becomes predetermined value. The voltage to be supplied to a DC-AC converter 8 is then controlled and the supply voltage to the AC corona discharger is controlled via a high-voltage transformer 4 forming the AC power source 4 so that the DC current component flowing in the shielding plate 3 becomes constant. Hence, the always stable corona charging may be performed without any effect on atomosphere etc.
