Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent possible damage to and deterioration of an engine due to knocking by limiting an upper limit of the ignition timing determined by knocking control below a standard upper limit to effect corrective control without occurrence of knocking. CONSTITUTION:A CPU12 receives and digitally operates various data such as a data of the ignition timing of an engine and so on, and an ROM14 stores control programs such as an ignition timing control program and fixed data. An input/ output interface circuit 20 receives signals from a knocking detector 30, a crank angle sensor 40 and a load sensor 50 and delivers them to the CPU12 over a bus 18 and also delivers an ignition signal INJ after operation at the CPU to an ignition coil driving circuit 60. The CPU operates the received data that the maximum ignition timing (an angle of lead of ignition) determined by knocking control is limited below a standard upper limit.
