Abstract
PURPOSE:To control the eccentricity of the roll to the minimum value correspondingly to the variation of the rolling condition, by controlling the position of the backup roll while always comparing the backup roll's position of the memorized minimum amplitude with its present position during the rolling work. CONSTITUTION:In the roll position memory circuit 13, the load variation for every one turn of the roll 1 is detected, and this value is compared with the value of the former one turn and the smaller value is kept in; this is repeated and the positional relation between the upper and lower backup rolls 2, 4, showing the minimum value is memorized, and the backup rolls 2, 4, are set to the position at which the roll's load variation is minimum. Under this condition, the rolling work is started. After starting the rolling work, the detection of the minimum value of the load variation of the roll is not performed; during the rolling work, the driving motors 5, 6, are controlled by the control circuit 16, and the roll position is always kept at the position memorized by the roll position memory circuit 13. Accordingly, the influence of the roll eccentricity is removed by very simple controlling method.
