Abstract
PURPOSE: To perform a rolling process with a stably and properly controlled interstand tension, by detecting a slip between a rolling roll and a rolled material from variations of the fluctuating amplitude and frequency of the vibration of a rolling mill, and by controlling the interstand tension so as to keep a value of tension just before generating a slip, when a slip is detected.
CONSTITUTION: A rolling torque G is computed by a rolling torque computer 24 from the rotational velocity N1 of a motor 3 detected by a velocity detector 10, the electric load current I1 detected by an ammeter 11, and the terminal voltage E1 detected by a voltage detector 12; the computed rolling torque G is imputted to a tension computer 25 and a slip detector 26. The tension T is computed by the tension computer 25 from the rolling torque G1 and the rolling load P1 detected and inputted by a load detector 9; the computed tension T is inputted to an operator 13. The slip detector 26 receives the rolling torque G1 and sends a slip detecting signal to a tension controller 27. The tension controller 27, correspondingly to this inputted signal, carries out a normal tension control during no slip is detected, and controls the tension so as to keep a value of tension just before generating a slip when a slip is detected.
