Abstract
PURPOSE:To perform recording by a method wherein the shape of the surface of a small drip produced through dissolution of an ink-liquid pillar is modified, thereby the flying direction thereof is altered and the drip is made to stick optionally on to a recording medium. CONSTITUTION:A pair of electrodes 9 are provided on both lateral sides of a place at the tip of an ink-liquid pillar 8 where a drip of liquid is just to be separated. By impressing the voltage on the electrodes 9, the tip of the liquid pillar is pulled to the left and right, thus becoming flat. Behind and below of the above electrodes another electrode 13 is provided so as to be at the right angle to an ink-jet stream. When a signal synchronized with an electrode 14 being impressed, the part at the tip of an ink-liquid pillar 15 which is just to be separated into a small drip turns to be flat and inclined toward the side of the electrode 13. A deformed small drip 16-2 is deflected and then flies in the deflected direction, forming the shape of a spherical symmetry of itself.
