Abstract

PURPOSE:To deflect and attract charged ink drops, which contribute to no printing although they are injected from the ink jet head, to the inlet of gutter by producing a proper electrostatic field in the neighborhood of inlet of the gutter. CONSTITUTION:Unnecessary ones 7 of ink drops injected from the ink jet head 1 are charged, deflected and attracted to the inlet of gutter 5 by producing a proper electrostatic field in the neighborhood of inlet of the gutter. The outer frame 8 of gutter is made of insulator and the inner electrode 9 of gutter is formed by plating or evaporating the inside of gutter. When the unnecessary ink drops 7 are negatively charged, the ink drops flying toward the gutter are attracted into the gutter by applying positive voltage to the inner electrode 9 even through the flight locus of ink drops is disturbed a little.
