Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain an alcohol in high yield, by reacting a substrate liquid with an immobilized yeast which is being rotated.
CONSTITUTION: The immobilized yeast 10 in the form of a plate, is immersed in a substrate liquid consisting of raw material sugar, e.g. molases or sucrose, in the reactor 11 and notated. An inert gas is passed through the distribution plate 15 and fed from the bottom of the reactor 11 in the form of bubbles. The substrate liquid and bubbles are agitated by the rotating yeast 10, and the three phases are brought into contact with one another evenly. The inert gas bubbles and formed carbon dioxide rise and are fed from the vent hole 19 to the cooler 25. The substrate liquid in the reactor 11 is fed from the outlet 17 through the circulation path 33 to the inlet 18 and circulated by a given portion. At the constatn alcohol concentration, the alcohol is taken out of the path 35.
