Abstract

PURPOSE: To make constant always the quantity of painting, by detecting the joint of beltlike film etc., and by making the thick wall joint side-step from a knife so as to prevent the trouble from being caused.
CONSTITUTION: When the joint 7 of a web 6 arrives at the position of the detecting means 22 for the joint, the gauge roller 24 is brought upward by the thick walled joint 7. A thickness gauge 23 detects the motion of the roller 24 and converts the detected value to an electric signal and amplifies it, then operates air cylinder 14 and rotates a supporting shaft 8 through an arm plate 13, hereby a knife 1 is rotated for a prescribed angle at a speed the same as, or near, the travelling speed of the web 6. Then the edge 2 of the knife 1 is placed at a prescribed position on the side, and the circular arc plane 1' faces oppositely to the roll 4. Thus the knife 1 functions as a roll, so that the joint 7 passes between the roll 4 and the circular arc plane 1' smoothly without being caught by the edge 2.
