Abstract
PURPOSE: To enhance the cleaning effect of hot water, to apply an evaporation promotor, and to lower its consumption amount, by mixing a rolling oil-evaporation promotor into hot water to be injected under a pressure onto a thin steel sheet near the final rolling stand of a continuous cold rolling mill.
CONSTITUTION: The thin steel sheet 2 is rolled by a five-stand tandem mill, for instance, using a rolling oil composed of mineral oil and about 20% beef tallow in its first to fourth stands. Between the fourth and fifth stands, washing water 3 kept at a temperature of about 50°C under a pressure of about 100kg/cm2 and containing an evaporation promotor (a special high molecular compound: polyisobutylene having a molecular weight of 10,000) is injected onto the steel sheet 2, to diminish the rolling oil and iron powder adhered onto the steel sheet 2 and to apply the evaporation promotor onto the steel sheet 2. Thereafter, the steel sheet 2 is carried to an annealing step. In this case, the running speed of the sheet 2 at the fifth stand is about 1,000m/min, the residual adhesion amount of the rolling oil between the fourth and fifth stands after washed is about 25mg/m2, and the apply amount of the evaporation promotor at the fifth stand is about 15mg/m2.
