Abstract
PURPOSE:To produce a thin, uniform metallic film on the surface of the metallic wire by a method wherein a pulley is rotated in the condition where its lower part below a rotary shaft is immersed in a molten metal bath contained in a plating tank so that the molten metal is continuously taken up into a groove of the pulley, and the metallic wire is passed through the molten metal in the groove in a tangential direction. CONSTITUTION:For example, the pulley 19 is rotated in the condition where its lower part below the rotary shaft 17 is immersed in a molten tin bath contained in the plating tank 11. As a result, the molten tin is taken up continuously into the groove 18 due to the surface tension thereof. The metallic wire (a) is passed through the groove 18 in the tangential direction, whereby a uniform film of tin is coated on the surface of the wire (a). The rotary shaft 17 is placed horizontally above the tank 11 in such a manner that is can be moved freely in the vertical direction, the pulley 19 is fixed to the middle part of the shaft 17 and is rotated by a motor 24.
