Abstract

PURPOSE:To emit light from a light emitting body immediately after an electric discharge lamp is turned off, by connecting a thermally operated switch, closed for the whole body at equal temperature and opened when partially heated by a heater, and the light emitting body in series. CONSTITUTION:A thermally operated switch 14 comprises the first thermally operated element 16 and the second thermally operated element 17 and opens a contact 19 when the second thermally operated element 17 is heated by a heater 15 connected in series to a luminous tube 1. When the luminous tube 1 is in a stable state of lighting, heat generation of the heater 15 causes the contact 19 to be as left in an open state. If the luminous tube 1 is turned off, the heat generation of the heater 15 being stopped causes the first thermally operated element 16 and the second thermally operated element 17 to be at equal temperature, then the contact 19 is closed to electrically conduct a filament 5 thus the filament 5 emits light. When the luminous tube 1 is again lighted, the heater 15 is again heated then the contact 19 is opened to cease emission of light of the filament 5.
