Abstract

PURPOSE:To scheme to save energy by allowing a switch circuit to be stored which breaks electrode preheating circuit through the detection of the temperature rise in a tube. CONSTITUTION:On lamp starting, an electrode preheating voltage is applied to a filament 20, and operation starts. When the lamp lights up, the temperature in the tube rises. When the temperature in the tube exceeds 50 deg.C, a bimetal 23 is operated to be separated from the supporting wire 19 of the filament 20, and the electrode preheating circuit is disconnected. As the connection to the base pin 21 on power side is left as it is, the lamp does not fail, and lighting is maintained. When the lamp fials, the bimetal 23 is restored to the original state.
