Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the power consumption of a sealed type motor driven compressor by employing a permanent magnet type synchronous motor as a drive source of the compressor and forming a permanent magnet rotor of a yoke, a side cover and a surface protective member and so forth, thereby obtaining a magnetic field for generating a torque from the permanent magnet. CONSTITUTION:In a seal type motor driven compressor 21 in which a compression mechanism 22 and a drive motor are associated in a sealed container, a permanent magnet type synchronous motor 23 is used as a drive motor. The permanent magnet rotor 26 of the motor 23 is composed by disposing a plurality of permanent magnets 29 in staggered manner on the periphery of a yoke 28 secured to a rotating shaft, elevationally holding them with a side cover 30 from above and below, then providing a protective member 33, e.g., resin on the surface, and further mounting balance weights 31, 31 at the upper and lower parts. Thus, the power consumption can be reduced, and the protection of the permanent magnet rotor and the reduction of the load can also be performed.
