Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain an inexpensive Al alloy with enhanced mechanical strength, corrosion resistance and formability by blending Al or an Al alloy with Se, La, Nd or misch metal based on Se, La or Nd and alloying the blend.
CONSTITUTION: Al or an Al alloy is blended with Se, La, Nd or misch metal based on Se, La or Nd which is a rare earth element, and the blend is alloyed. Preferred misch metal contains ≥60% Se, La or Nd. Since this alloy is manufactured by mixing Al or a Al alloy with an abundantly distributed rare earth element, that is, Se, La or Nd, it is obtd. at a low cost.
