Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent gas leakage from the circumference of the tap hole of a blast furnace, by inserting a lance having a nozzle at its top end into the furnace through the tuyere made just above the tap hole, and by blowing heavy oil compulsively through the lance to the furnace wall corresponding to the tap hole.
CONSTITUTION: A lence 10 connected to the top end of a hose 10a for heavy oil is inserted to a tuyere 11. The lance 10 is equipped with a nozzle 12 which faces to the crack 6 made in the circumference of a tap hole 5. The portion through which the lance is inserted is blockaded with blocking material 13. Heavy oil is sprayed at about 10kg/cm2 pressure in the same manner as in the operation through a nozzle 12. The heavy oil sticks to the inner surface of the refractory material 2 so as to coat it because of its viscosity thereby clogging the cracks 7. The heavy oil burns to form carbide because the inner wall surface of the refractory material 2 is at considerably high temp., and remains at the cracks as it is, so that the leakage of furnace gas is completely prevented.
