Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the output characteristic of an engine which employs a mixture of gasoline with alochol, by providing an ignition time controller which advances the time of ignition when the concentration of the alochol has exceeded a prescribed level. CONSTITUTION:An ignition time controller 8 increases the quantity of spark lag to delay the time of ignition as negative intake pressure approaches the atompsheric pressure. The controller 8 decreases the quantity of spark lag to advance the time of ignition as the rotational frequency of an engine rises. The controller 8 also reduces the quantity of spark lag to advance the time of ignition when the concentration of alcohol is not less than a prescribed level. An alcohol concentration sensor 7 is made up of a capacitor 7a. An alcohol concentration detection circuit 18 includes an electrostatic capacity detector 22 to find out the concentration of alcohol in mixed fuel in terms of the change in the dielectric constant of the fuel. The detected concentration of alcohol is compared with a set level by a comparator 23.
