Abstract
PURPOSE:To provide a binder for a synthetic brake having excellent hardness, abrasion resistance and abrasion stability, by compounding a thermosetting resin homogeneously with a condensate obtained by the dehydration reaction of a polyalkylene polyamine, a specific unsaturated fatty acid, and a dimer acid. CONSTITUTION:The objective binder is obtained by compounding (A) a thermosetting resin homogeneously with (B) a condensation product obtained by the dehydration reaction of (a) 1 mole of dimer acid and (b) a mixture of 1 mole of a polyalkylene polyamine (e.g. triethylene-tetramine) and 2-4 moles of 16, 18 or 22C unsaturated fatty acid (e.g. oleic acid) or (b') a mixture of 2 moles of a polyalkylene polyamine and 2-8 moles of a 16, 18 or 22C unsaturated fatty acid. The amounts of water eliminated are 2-5 moles and 4-10 moles for the mixtures (b) and (b'), respectively, and the reaction is carried out at >=150 deg.C. The (B) component has a structure of formula (R is 17C alkyl ester of a 18C unsaturated fatty acid), etc., and the amount of (B) is pref. 5-90wt% of the component (A).
