Abstract
PURPOSE: To improve the reliability of a joined part by controlling heating with the rate of displacement by exhausting of an eutectic molten phase in pressure joining of end faces of an Al pipe and a Cu pipe.
CONSTITUTION: A Cu pipe 4 pressed from 3 sides by means of rollers 3 in a manner as to be able to slide is pressed and butted by means of a press-contacting cylinder 5 to the end face of an Al pipe 2 fixed by half-split chucks 1. With the stop position of the cylinder 5 when they are butted as a reference, a displacement meter 7 is set at a zero display and is started. Current is flowed to the coil 9 accommodating the contact parts of both pipes 2, 4 at its center is flowed by a high frequency oscillator 8, and an inert gas is flowed to quickly heat the contact parts. The formation of the eutectic molten phase of Al and Cu beings to take place at their interface in a few second after, and the pipe 4 displaces. The meter 7 detects this displacement and emits a signal to the device 8 and the cylinder 5 according to the preset rate of displacement. The device 8 lowers the quantity of heating and the cylinder 5 increases pressing force, thereby increasing the speed of joining.
