Abstract

PURPOSE: To compensate change of sensitivity of a photoreceptor due to the shift of output wavelength of a laser element caused by heat, by detecting the output intensity of laser beams of a semiconductor laser beam printer, and controlling a current for driving the laser in accordance with the temperature of the laser and beam output intensity.
CONSTITUTION: The front beams L1 of a semiconductor laser 201 are made incident to a photoreceptor and its rear beams are made incident to a photodetector 205. A thermistor 203 is connected to the photodetector circuit 205 is parallel to a resistor 206. This thermistor shifts wavelength when the laser 201 rises in temperature. The laser output compensates sensitivity change of the photoreceptor by calculating in accordance with this wavelength shift and controlling a laser driving circuit.
