Abstract
PURPOSE: To prepare the titled compound useful as a solvent, etc., in a short time, without using complicate means, by contacting hexafluoropropene vapor with a catalyst comprising an alkali metal fluoride supported on activated charcoal.
CONSTITUTION: The titled compound is prepared by contacting hexafluoropropene vapor with a catalyst comprising an alkali metal fluoride, pref. cesium fluoride or potassium fluoride, supported on activated charcoal, pref. at 150W250°C under 0.1W10 atm., usually for 30 seconds to 10 minutes. The above catalyst can be prepared by (1) immersing activated charcoal in an aqueous solution of an alkali metal fluoride, (2) drying the charcoal containing the solution, and (3) heating at a temperature between the reaction temperature and 300°C thereabove under inert gas stream, e.g. nitrogen gas stream. The weight ratio of the alkali metal fluoride to the activated charcoal is pref. 10W100 to 100.
